Students Receiving Federal Subsidized Loans and Enrolled in TOPP

Many students’ Federal Subsidized Loans for autumn quarter did not apply to balances in the Tuition Option Payment Plan (TOPP) as they should have.  Instead, the loan appeared as a credit on the student’s account, generating a refund despite a balance due owed to the university.

This means that these students still have TOPP installments outstanding.  If you are in this situation, the refund money you receive can be used to immediately pay towards your TOPP installment(s). If you have not yet received your refund, you may make your first TOPP payment or repay the entire amount refunded as soon as you receive your refund.

Please note students impacted by this issue will NOT be assessed a late fee even if you make your first TOPP payment after September 23, 2009.
